Remembering the Legacy of Bob Moore, Creator of Bob's Red Mill, Who Passed Away at 94, a Champion for Whole Grain Wellness.

Introduction

On Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the age of 94, Bob Moore, the creator of Bob's Red Mill and one of the most well-known people in the natural foods sector, passed away quietly at home. Moore will be known for his exuberant nature, his leadership qualities, his love of whole grains, and his diligent work ethic and his generosity in establishing the Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) on his 81st birthday.

“Trey Winthrop, CEO of Bob's Red Mill, stated in the statement that "Bob's legacy will live on forever in all of us who had the opportunity to work with him and is infused into the Bob's Red Mill brand." "He exerted every effort to provide us with a solid route ahead. We are all driven and obligated to uphold his traditional methods of preparing unprocessed foods, his dedication to using only the best products, and his kindness toward business owners who are also educators who promote nutritional wellness”

Moore is survived by his three sons, Ken, Bob, Jr. and David, as well as his daughters-in-law Dora, Barbara, Ashleigh and Terry, and nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Moore and his late wife Charlee sought to inspire future generations during the previous ten years by making sizable financial gifts to Oregon universities. Charlee passed away in 2018. Because of the Moores' substantial contributions to Oregon State University, which went toward building the Moore Family Center for Whole Grain Foods, Nutrition, and Preventive Health in the College of Health and Human Sciences, they were dubbed honorary Beavers. Generous donations have facilitated the establishment of numerous other research initiatives around the state, including the Bob and Charlee Moore Institute for Nutrition & Wellness at Oregon Health & Science University.
